Meteorological Office Issues Eighth Heavy Rain Warning

On September 25, 2025, the Meteorological Department issued warning number 8 (224/2569) concerning heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand with impacts extending through September 27, 2025. During September 25-27, the northern region, lower northeastern region, central region including Bangkok and its surroundings, eastern region, and southern region will experience heavy rainfall in many areas, with very heavy rainfall in some locations. A strong low-pressure system moving eastward will cover the lower northeastern and central regions, along with Bangkok and surrounding areas, following the monsoon trough that crosses the upper part of Thailand, while the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, southern region, and Gulf of Thailand will intensify. The public is urged to be cautious of hazards from continuous heavy and accumulated rainfall that could cause flash floods and flash floods, particularly in sloping areas near waterways and low-lying zones. Avoid traveling through roads with recurring flood problems, especially low-lying areas where water may accumulate in short periods. Wave conditions in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, with waves 2-3 meters high in the upper sections and greater than 3 meters during thunderstorms. Waves in the lower sections are approximately 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters during storms. Fishermen should navigate cautiously and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand should remain ashore through September 27, 2025.
