Thai Cyclist Peeraphan Wins Sprint, Mountain Titles at Langkawi Tour
Thai cyclist Peeraphan Chaw Chiang Khwang excelled in the final stage of Le Tour de Langkawi 2026, capturing the IS1 and IS2 sprint titles and the KOM1 mountain championship. His performance contributed to the Thailand Continental Cycling Team’s effort to earn Olympic qualification points for the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. General Decha Hakparn of the Cycling Association of Thailand confirmed the results were on target and the team will continue pursuing Olympic qualification.
In the final stage of Le Tour de Langkawi 2026, Peeraphan Chaw Chiang Khwang secured the IS1 and IS2 sprint championships and the KOM1 mountain title. The stage was won by Italian rider Matteo Malucelli of XDS Astana Team in 4 hours, 5 minutes and 17 seconds. All five Thai riders finished, with the best placement going to Sergeant Major Thananchai Chaiyasombat, who placed tenth overall in Asia with a time of 4:05:19. The Thai team’s top overall individual was Aphisit Suphan, ranking 49th globally and 14th in Asia with a cumulative time of 29:24:31. Thailand Continental Cycling Team placed 18th overall and sixth among Asian teams, while General Decha Hakparn said the results met the team’s goals and will help build points toward the 2028 Olympic quota.
