Thai Kali Advances Potash Mine with Zero-Waste Plan, Community Projects
Thai Kali advances potash mining with horizontal tunnel drilling and a zero-waste plant recycling all water into distilled output, while its agricultural center aids over 100 farming households with saline-soil technology and drone-deployed
After Thai Kali successfully completed ventilation tunnel drilling without incidents, the company is now drilling horizontal tunnels connecting all three shafts and boring into the potash seam to extract and transport ore to the processing plant. Simultaneously, the processing plant is being upgraded for full operation. The plant will separate potash, rock salt, and tailings. Potash goes to fertilizer production, tailings are backfilled underground, and salt enters a pure salt production facility. Every step is designed to leave nothing behind — water from processing and the salt plant is recycled into 100% pure distilled water. Thai Kali confirms a Zero Discharge policy with no waste or water released outside the project area.
Beyond mining progress, Thai Kali prioritizes environment and community coexistence through the Thai Kali Agricultural Learning Center, working with public relations to coordinate inside and outside the concession area. The center transfers new agricultural technology to youth, students, and the public via experts from both private and government sectors. Reporters visiting the center found numerous ongoing projects with tangible results: improving farmer livelihoods under climate change in saline soils at Ban Nong Sai (51 households, 539 rai), developing suitable benefits from saline land at Khlong Lam Mahot (40 households, 293 rai), a large-field conversion project (17 households, 80 rai), a new-era farming project boosting yield and income with environmental care for sugarcane (23 households, 264 rai), and an aromatic coconut project with 2,934 trees across five plots. Other facilities include hydroponic greenhouses, mushroom houses, seedling nurseries, and aquaculture ponds.
With government data forecasting drought this year, Thai Kali proactively deployed smart drones to spray bio-fermented water for farmers in the local research network across the concession area, jointly tackling the drought crisis. The company walks hand-in-hand with communities around the mine and within the concession to sustainably develop occupations, livelihoods, and livable communities.
