Thai PM Represents King at Norway Funeral State Dinner
Thai PM Anuthins Charnveerakul represented the Thai King at Norway's King Harald V funeral and attended a state dinner at Oslo Royal Palace on September 9, using the occasion to meet with world leaders from multiple countries.
Prime Minister Anuthins Charnveerakul, representing the Thai King, attended an official state dinner at Oslo Royal Palace after the funeral of King Harald V of Norway on September 9, 2025. Prime Minister's Secretary Trisule Trisrnakul revealed that the Thai King had graciously appointed Anuthins and the Interior Minister as his representatives to attend the funeral service in Oslo at 5:30 p.m. local time.
The Prime Minister participated in the formal state dinner at Oslo Royal Palace alongside royal guests, heads of state, members of the royal family, and senior representatives from numerous countries who came to pay respects and express condolences to King Harald V. The dinner was held following the funeral service at Oslo Cathedral, hosted by Norway's new King Haakon VIII.
The Prime Minister later posted on Facebook about the dinner hosted by King Haakon VIII at the royal palace following the burial ceremony of King Harald V, noting that the Thai King had graciously appointed him as his representative for this significant occasion. He also shared another post stating that attending King Harald V's funeral provided an excellent opportunity to meet with numerous world leaders, including the presidents of Georgia, Latvia, Albania, Germany, Estonia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, as well as the prime ministers of France, Norway, Sweden, and Morocco. Though the meetings were brief, he said they were used to exchange views on bilateral relations, cooperation, trade, investment, and new opportunities for mutual benefit between Thailand and the other nations represented.
