Thai Police, US Agency Bust Online Tiger Skin Gang
Thai forest police and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service arrested three suspects for running an online tiger‑skin sales gang. The operation followed a earlier seizure of over 300 tiger hides and resulted in arrests in Bangkok. All three confessed to trading protected wildlife without permission.
On October 8, 2026, Pol Lt Gen Eknak Thasupphap, commander of the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division, directed Pol Col Permwut Pratumrat and Pol Col Thanachchonmeng Kengkasik to cooperate with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officers in apprehending Kittipong (surname withheld), 31, Jaruttikan (surname withheld), 31, and Apiwat (surname withheld), 27. The arrests followed a May 25 seizure of more than 300 tiger skins, including several tiger‑face hides, from Kulkalaya (surname withheld). Investigation revealed the trio had purchased the skins via a Facebook page they created to sell and ship the items from Bangkok to Nakhon Phanom. After gathering evidence and obtaining arrest warrants, police took Kittipong and Jaruttikan into custody at their homes in Khlong Sam Wa district, Bangkok, and arrested Apiwat at his residence in Bang Khen district, Bangkok. All three were charged with jointly trading and possessing protected wildlife carcasses without authorization, confessed during initial questioning, and were handed to investigators for further legal proceedings.
