Thai Swimmers Arrive in Japan for Asian Games

Thailand's swimming team has arrived in Japan ready to compete in the 20th Asian Games, with preparations underway before the championship rounds from September 20-25, 2025. Sky Kingphoyom, son of celebrated athlete Metinee Kingphoyom, is also set to make his debut at the Games.

Before departure, Thanawit Tossakul, secretary-general of the Water Sports Association of Thailand, addressed and encouraged the athletes to build confidence ahead of competition, emphasizing that everyone should perform at full capacity. Tossakul noted that swimming is a sport measured by statistics, allowing the team's performance trends to be assessed quite clearly. However, he stressed that the priority is not to create pressure on athletes but to encourage everyone to do their personal best and try to achieve improved times, particularly among those with SEA Games championship credentials who could advance to the finals.

For the first day of swimming competition on September 20, the highlight will be Kamnanchanok Khuanmeung, known as "Ngueok Noy," competing in the women's 200-meter butterfly—one of the events she has high hopes for and which Thai fans will be watching closely. Sky Kingphoyom Sharppeurl, son of Metinee Kingphoyom, will also debut at the Asian Games on the first day in the men's 200-meter individual medley, representing an exciting young swimming talent for Thailand.

Mia Millar, a Thai-New Zealand swimmer and SEA Games champion, will compete in the women's 200-meter breaststroke on September 22, offering another chance for Thailand's swimming team to deliver strong results at the Asian Games.
