Worker Dies After Pile Driver Crushes Head at Construction Site

A 23-year-old worker died after being struck and crushed by a pile-driving machine at a construction site in Phuket. Police responded to the incident on September 16, 2569. At 6:00 PM on September 15, Chalong Police Station received a report that a construction worker had been pinned and severely crushed by a large pile-driving machine at a construction project in Thalang district. Officers, including Ekarat Playdwang, commander of Chalong Police Station, rushed to the scene. The victim, Petcharchai (surname withheld), 23, had already been transported to hospital but died shortly after. He was employed as an operator on the pile-driving equipment. Preliminary investigation determined that the pile driver was being relocated within the construction site when an operational malfunction occurred, causing Petcharchai to be pinned around the head with fatal injuries. Chalong Police investigators are conducting interviews with witnesses and others involved at the scene to gather all facts and conduct a thorough examination of the accident's cause.
