ThaiBev Launches 27th Green Blanket Drive for Remote Provinces
ThaiBev launched its 27th annual 'Green Blanket' campaign, distributing blankets to 15 remote provinces in northern and northeastern Thailand. The project, in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, has delivered over 5.4 million blankets since its inception. Since 2020, the company has produced 'Green Blankets Save the World' from recycled plastic bottles (rPET), with each blanket made from 38 PET bottles, totaling over 1.4 million eco-friendly blankets distributed and more than 53 million bottles recycled.
ThaiBev continues to deliver warmth to Thai people for the 27th consecutive year, preparing to mobilize the 'Green Blanket' caravan under the 'ThaiBev... United Against Cold' project with the concept 'More Than Warmth Is a Sustainable Society of Giving.' In collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, a grand blanket handover ceremony was held, led by Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of Thai Beverage PLC, representing the company to present blankets to Arsit Samphanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, along with executives from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and network partners, to bring warmth to remote communities.
Over the past 27 years, the Green Blanket caravan has delivered warmth and smiles to Thais totaling over 5.4 million blankets. Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of Thai Beverage PLC, spoke of the close cooperation with the public sector in alleviating suffering and promoting public welfare: 'As we step into the 27th year of the United Against Cold project, everyone knows that alleviating suffering and promoting welfare is a key mission of the Ministry of Interior, especially when cold winds arrive. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation has a crucial mission to relieve suffering.'
ThaiBev considers itself just one part of the private sector that has joined this mission for over 27 years. Every year, we bring green blankets — ThaiBev blankets — to enhance quality of life and alleviate cold-weather hardship caused by natural phenomena, making life more difficult for Thais in various areas. Therefore, over 27 years, the 5.4 million blankets are considered part of ThaiBev's important mission carried out continuously with the Ministry of Interior.
For this journey, the Green Blanket caravan is ready to depart, delivering warmth directly to disaster-affected people in remote areas at the end of 2026, covering 15 provinces in both the North and Northeast: Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Bueng Kan, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Tak, Phrae, Phayao, and Nan, to spread assistance widely.
Alongside the relief mission, ThaiBev has elevated the project to environmental sustainability innovation since 2020 by producing 'Green Blankets Save the World' from recycled plastic bottles (rPET) through the 'Collect-Recycle' project of Thai Beverage Recycle Co., Ltd. Thapana noted this significant shift: 'What we have added and applied innovation to over the past 7 years is blankets made from rPET, synthetic fibers from consumed plastic bottles — whether Chang drinking water or water from ThaiBev group — recycled to produce over 200,000 blankets annually. These are distributed not only to provide warmth but also to develop sustainability and reduce environmental pollution.'
Each 'Save the World' blanket is woven from 38 PET plastic bottles. To date, over 53 million plastic bottles have been collected back into the recycling system, and over 1.4 million 'Save the World' blankets have been delivered. The success and warmth over 27 years continue the philanthropic vision of Charoen and Wanna Sirivadhanabhakdi under the concept 'Thais Can Give to Each Other.' Thapana emphasized the power of cooperation among partners...
