Man Shoots Girlfriend Dead, Leaves Body at Hospital, Flees
A 33-year-old man with a criminal record shot his 31-year-old girlfriend in the head during an argument at their rented home in Chumphon. He drove her to a hospital but fled before police arrived. Officers found yaba, crystal methamphetamine, a gun holster, and bloodstains during a raid on the residence. The suspect was released from prison just weeks before the incident.
On November 7, 2026, reporters stated that on November 6, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sahachat Sangsom, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Mueang Chumphon Police Station, received a report from staff at Thonburi-Chumphon Hospital that a person had been shot and brought in for treatment but later died. The person who brought her in fled the scene.
After receiving the report, police proceeded to the hospital with Police Lieutenant Panintorn Chot, Deputy Head of Investigation, and Police Lieutenant Sakron Suphakit, Deputy Head of Inquiry. At the hospital, officers found the body of the deceased, identified as Ms. Kalyanee, age 31. She had a gunshot wound of unknown caliber to the left temple, with the bullet exiting behind the right ear. Forensic police from Chumphon Province were coordinated with to collect gunshot residue as evidence.
Hospital staff reported that before the incident, a man — later identified as the victim's boyfriend — drove a black sedan to the patient drop-off zone. Staff rushed to help carry the injured woman from the vehicle. The situation was chaotic as the victim was in critical condition. The man told staff he would go fetch the victim's relatives, then drove away quickly in an unknown direction. After the victim died, the hospital alerted police.
Investigators led by Police Lieutenant Sakron Suphakit reviewed hospital CCTV footage and identified a black Toyota sedan with a Chumphon license plate. A system check showed the vehicle owner resides in Tha Sae District, Chumphon. Contacting the owner revealed the car had been borrowed by his nephew, Mr. Dechaphol, age 33, who claimed he was taking his girlfriend to an ordination ceremony. Mr. Dechaphol currently rents a row house in Sukhaphiban Soi 1, opposite a resort.
Police searched the rental room and found two motorcycles parked outside. Inside, they discovered large amounts of blood in the living room and bedroom, and a black handgun holster lying in the bedroom. The victim had reportedly lived with Mr. Dechaphol for about one year.
Officers also found hidden drugs on a kitchen table: one bag of yaba (quantity not yet counted), two bags of ice (weight unknown), along with drug paraphernalia and plastic bags for packaging. A mobile phone on a chair near the drugs was seized as evidence. Chumphon forensic police conducted a detailed evidence collection at the scene.
Neighbors told police that around 11:00 PM on November 6, they heard a loud bang resembling a gunshot. One neighbor opened the door and saw Mr. Dechaphol carrying Ms. Kalyanee, who was bleeding heavily, placing her in the back of the sedan before speeding away. He did not return to the house.
Police initially suspect Mr. Dechaphol and Ms. Kalyanee had a heated argument, leading the man to shoot her in the head, causing critical injury. In panic, he drove her to the hospital then fled.
A check of criminal records from the Department of Corrections revealed Mr. Dechaphol has served multiple prison terms between 2017 and 2025, most recently released on November 14, 2025, from Nong Nang Phreau Temporary Prison for offenses related to...
