Thailand Braces for Four Days of Heavy Rain Starting Tomorrow
Thailand's Meteorological Department warns of four days of heavy to very heavy rain starting September 4, with flash floods expected across northern and northeastern regions, particularly in low-lying areas and the Mekong River basin.
The Thai Meteorological Department issued its fourth warning on September 3 at 5 p.m. regarding heavy to very heavy rainfall across northern Thailand from September 4–7, 2025. The rain is driven by a monsoon trough crossing the north and upper northeast, combined with moderate southwest monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Residents are advised to watch for hazards from accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and runoff, especially in the Mekong River basin, hillside areas near water channels, and low-lying zones. Travel through flood-prone areas, particularly low-lying regions that may experience short-term water accumulation, should be avoided.
Affected provinces by date include: September 4 — very heavy rain in Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan (North) and Bueng Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani (Northeast); heavy rain in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lampun, Lamphun, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Phisanulok, Phetchabun (North), Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Sakon Nakhon, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Sisaket (Northeast), Lopburi, Saraburi (Central), and Nakhon Nayok, Chanthaburi, Trat (East).
September 5 — very heavy rain in Uttaradit, Phisanulok, Phetchabun (North), Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Khon Kaen, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani (Northeast); heavy rain across most northern, northeastern, central, and eastern provinces including Bangkok and surrounding areas.
September 6 — very heavy rain in Ubon Ratchathani (Northeast) and Trat (East); heavy rain in other areas.
