Suspect Escapes Police, Swims Moat Before Capture
A defendant escaped police custody in Nakhon Ratchasima on September 2 and fled through Golden City Park, swimming across the monument's moat before officers and local citizens cornered and captured him near Thao Suranaree Monument.
A dramatic escape unfolded in Nakhon Ratchasima on September 2, 2569 when a defendant broke free while being transported to court. CCTV footage from Nakhon Ratchasima Municipality captured the suspect running toward the Golden City Park on Chumphon Road before jumping into the moat beside the Thao Suranaree Monument, swimming across, and continuing to flee toward the monument's plaza. Uniformed and plainclothes police officers, together with local citizens who witnessed the incident, pursued and surrounded the suspect, successfully apprehending him near the Pho Fire Shrine opposite the monument. The suspect, wearing only black shorts with full-body tattoos, was found exhausted and transported back for legal processing.
According to an eyewitness water vendor interviewed at the scene, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. She recalled seeing a shirtless, tattooed man running frantically down the street, initially unsure if he was a thief or robbery suspect. A motorcycle with two occupants pursued him, with riders calling for help and honking the horn continuously. By the time the suspect reached the Thao Suranaree Monument area, a group of local citizens had joined in and successfully captured him, later learning he was a defendant fleeing while being taken to court.
