Thai FA Thanks Chonburi for Releasing Player to Asian Games
The Thai Football Association thanked Chonburi FC for releasing 21-year-old striker Yassakorn Burapa to compete at the Asian Games in Japan, despite the player facing a grueling schedule with multiple round trips between Thailand and Japan
Secretary-General Ekphon Phonnavee of the Football Association of Thailand has expressed gratitude to Chonburi FC for releasing striker Yassakorn Burapa to support the national team at the 20th Asian Games, taking place in Japan from September 19 to October 4. The 21-year-old forward from Chonburi FC was included in Thailand's squad after recently appearing in the 2026 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.
Burapa faces an intensive schedule, requiring at least three round trips between Thailand and Japan within ten days. Thailand League 1 begins on September 4, with Chonburi scheduled to visit Chiangrai United on September 5 and host Rayong FC on September 13. Meanwhile, Thailand's first Asian Games match against Kyrgyzstan is set for September 16, followed by a Chonburi fixture against Buriram United on September 20 and a match against host Japan on September 23.
Coach Thawatcharai Damrongtrakul, head of Thailand's under-23 men's football programme, confirmed that Burapa is a key player and essential to the team's Asian Games campaign, despite the physical toll of frequent international travel. He praised Chonburi FC for their cooperation, noting that the arrangement to release Burapa while still requiring his involvement in domestic league matches represents the best compromise. The Football Association thanked Chonburi for their continued support of the national team.
