Thailand Coach Picks Most Confident Players for Penalties ASEAN Cup
Thailand’s head coach Anthony Hudson revealed he chose the penalty‑takers who felt most confident after the ASEAN Cup final loss to Indonesia. He said the squad will remain the core for the King’s Cup and the Asian Cup, with only a handful of key players still missing. The team returned to Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 6 as runners‑up in the tournament.
Hudson explained that, since taking over in November last year, he has been picking players based on availability and confidence rather than trying to field the absolute best XI. He said the current group forms the foundation he wants to build on, aiming to keep it intact for the King’s Cup and the Asian Cup, adding that only about four or five key players—such as Theerathon Bunmathan, Thanawat Suangchitwaroon, Jonathan Kheemdee and several youth prospects like Yotsakorn Burapha—are still missing. Midfielder Sarach Yooyen added that the ASEAN Cup provided a high‑intensity experience that will benefit the team as they prepare for tougher continental competition.
