Thailand Issues Heavy Rain, Strong Wind Warning for Oct 4-7
Thailand’s Meteorological Department issued a second weather warning for October 4‑7, forecasting heavy to very heavy rain, strong winds and the risk of flash floods across the North, Central, East and parts of the South. The public is advised to stay alert for dangerous conditions, avoid exposed locations and take precautions when traveling by sea, where waves may exceed two metres. The department will continue to provide updates and can be reached via its website or hotline.
The Meteorological Department’s second warning states that from October 4 to 7 the upper northern and eastern regions, along with the Northeast, will experience thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy to very heavy rain. On October 5‑6 the affected area expands to include the North, Central plains (including Bangkok and its vicinity), the East and the upper South, while rain in the Northeast begins to ease. By October 7 the western North, central provinces and the southern region will see the weather, with other areas seeing decreasing rainfall. The unsettled conditions are attributed to a cold high‑pressure system from China extending over the northern and northeastern regions, combined with the lingering southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand. The department urged the public to avoid open areas, large trees and insecure billboards, to watch for flash floods and runoff, and to exercise caution at sea where waves could exceed two metres during thunderstorms.
