Ratchaburi Raises Red Flag Over Mae Klong River Flood Alert
Ratchaburi authorities have raised a red flood warning after the Mae Klong River surpassed critical levels, exacerbated by high sea tides. The province declared a disaster zone for four districts, urging residents to move belongings to higher ground. Flooding has affected over 3,600 households and displaced 110 people to temporary shelters, with no casualties reported so far.
Ratchaburi City Municipality hoisted a red flag as the Mae Klong River exceeded its critical level, prompting the highest flood warning due to combined river flow and high sea tide. The provincial government announced disaster assistance for the four districts of Mueang Ratchaburi, Ban Pong, Wat Phleng, and Pak Tho. Residents living along the river and outside flood defenses were advised to evacuate valuables to higher ground without delay. According to the Ratchaburi Provincial Incident Command Center, flooding between September 24 and 30 affected 42 sub-districts and 178 villages across seven districts, damaging 3,663 households and affecting 28,712 residents, as well as 16 schools and 21 temples. Thirteen temporary relief centers have been opened in Mueang Ratchaburi, Ban Pong, and Photharam, sheltering 110 people. While water levels continue to rise, no injuries or deaths have been reported.
