Sutthisarn Police Probe Guard After Prisoner Escapes Cell
Sutthisarn Police Station has launched an investigation after a guard allowed a theft suspect to break out of his cell and flee. The suspect, Parinya, had been detained since September 24 and was due to be moved to court but remained at the station because of flooding. Police chief Phonthep Chaloemkiat has appointed a fact‑finding committee to finish its probe within 15 days.
According to the report, traffic police from Division 1 of the Royal Thai Police apprehended Parinya, 35, under Criminal Court arrest warrant No. 3521/2569 dated June 24, 2569 for night‑time theft. He had been in custody since September 24, 2569 before being sent to Sutthisarn Police Station to face charges. Upon completion of the 48‑hour detention period, he was to be transferred to the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road for a remand hearing, but because the court offices were flooded, he remained at the Sutthisarn station. While the duty guard, identified as Police Sergeant Ekasak Phomsuk, was accompanying him to the toilet, Parinya seized the opportunity, forced open the cell door and escaped. The escape occurred on September 30, 2569. In response, Pol. Col. Phonthep Chaloemkiat, superintendent of Sutthisarn Police Station, issued Order No. 109/2569 appointing a fact‑finding committee chaired by Pol. Lt. Col. Kantharit Thepjakarin, deputy superintendent for investigations, with Pol. Lt. Col. Kanthongpo Misaymongkol, suppression superintendent, and Pol. Lt. Ekatichai Kasnit, deputy superintendent for investigations and committee secretary, as members. The committee is tasked with establishing whether any laws or regulations were broken, gathering evidence, reporting any additional parties involved, and submitting its findings to the appointing authority within 15 days of receiving the order, which was dated September 30, 2569.
