Ratchaburi authorities are urgently evacuating people living along the Mae Klong River, including bedridden patients and elderly residents, after Mae Klong Dam in Kanchanaburi announced it will increase water discharge from 1,666 cubic meters per second to 3,000 cubic meters per second. The decision will cause severe flooding in low-lying areas of Ratchaburi Municipality, prompting emergency relocation of belongings to higher ground and evacuation of vulnerable groups to provincial shelters. The evacuation is proceeding with urgency as water levels continue to rise.
Deputy Governor Suthepong Suriyasing, along with Representative Kulvali Napombodi from Ratchaburi District 1 and Adul Thavarkul, the Mueang Ratchaburi District Chief, went to the field to distribute food and basic supplies to flood-affected residents. Officials revealed that all districts have been designated as incident commanders at the local level to ensure timely assistance to the public, with special emphasis on vulnerable groups such as bedridden patients and the elderly. Local leaders have been instructed to activate emergency response plans and mobilize equipment, tools, and personnel to support community needs.
