Thailand Warns of Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain Across Multiple Provinces
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds from October 4 to 7, affecting much of the country. Sea conditions will be rough, with waves exceeding two metres in stormy areas, prompting safety advice for the public and mariners.
The Meteorological Department’s 24‑hour forecast for October 1 shows scattered thunderstorms nationwide, with the strongest activity expected from October 4‑7. In the north, provinces such as Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Uttaradit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun will see 30 % coverage, temperatures 22‑26 °C lows and 31‑36 °C highs, and southwest winds 10‑20 km/h. The northeast (Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani) will also have 30 % coverage, lows 23‑25 °C, highs 34‑35 °C, and west winds 10‑20 km/h. Central regions (Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Lopburi, Saraburi) expect 30 % coverage, lows 24‑26 °C, highs 34‑36 °C, and southerly winds 10‑20 km/h. The east (Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat) will have 30 % coverage, lows 24‑26 °C, highs 32‑34 °C, and southerly winds 15‑30 km/h, with sea waves around one metre, exceeding two metres in thunderstorms. Southern Thailand’s eastern side (Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala) forecasts 40 % coverage, lows 23‑24 °C, highs 32‑35 °C, and southeast winds 15‑30 km/h, while the western side (Phuket, Krabi, Trang, Satun, and from Phang Nga northward) expects 60 % coverage, lows 23‑24 °C, highs 32‑35 °C, and southwest winds 15‑35 km/h north of Phang Nga and 15‑30 km/h south of Phuket, with sea waves 1‑2 metres, rising above two metres in stormy areas. Bangkok and vicinity are predicted to have 40 % thunderstorm coverage, lows 25‑26 °C, highs 34‑35 °C, and southerly winds.
