Cha-am police have launched a manhunt for a violent son who killed his elderly father by repeatedly striking him in the head with a hoe after a dispute over spraying insecticide. The mother tried to stop the fight but had to flee when the son threatened her as well. At 7:30 pm on October 1, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Suntorn Phram‑sang of Cha-am Police Station received the report of the fatal attack at a cattle pen in Moo 5, Khao Yai sub‑district, Cha‑am district, Phetchaburi province. He informed the station commander, coordinated with medical and forensic teams, and went to the scene with investigators. There they found Mr. Yiem lying on his back with severe head wounds from blunt force. His wife, shaken, told officers that their 29‑year‑old son was the attacker. She said the argument began over pesticide use; she attempted to intervene, but the son threatened to hit her, so she withdrew before he turned the hoe on his father, striking him multiple times until he died. The son then fled. Police are now pursuing the suspect, gathering evidence to secure an arrest warrant. The victim’s body has been sent for autopsy before being released to the family for funeral rites.
