Thailand's national football team continues intensive training in the final stretch before competing in the 2026 ASEAN Football Championship, with the squad scheduled to open against Laos on July 25 at Laos National Stadium.

Training sessions at BGTC3 stadium in Pathum Thani province are held twice daily—morning and evening—to ensure readiness for the tournament. Goalkeeper Korkradat Pipattnayadda highlighted the intensity of training camps, comparing it to a preseason. He praised collaboration with experienced goalkeepers Chatchai Bootprom and Kampon Pathamarangkul, noting that their mentorship aids his development. He stressed the importance of fitness conditioning and emphasized the need for constant communication among teammates to align individual techniques with the coach's tactics.

Thailand is grouped in Group B alongside Malaysia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. The team's first match will be an away fixture against Laos on July 25 at Laos National Stadium at 20:00.

Father Seeks Help for Son Claiming to Be Comedian's Child
21 Jul Khaosod

On July 21, 2024, a 22-year-old man identified as Def entered a police station in Udon Thani asking officers to confirm receipt of 10,000 baht he claimed the famous comedian Mam Jok Mok had transferred for travel to Yasothon province. When questioned about his story, Def insisted that a "mind-reading device" had revealed to him that Mam Jok Mok was his biological father, though he acknowledged he was legally an adopted child. Officers at the station noticed his behavior appeared unstable.

Police later conducted a background check using his real name and found no records linking Def to Mam Jok Mok by blood or adoption. Def continued insisting that Mam Jok Mok was his true father. The investigation revealed that Def's registered residence is in Non Sang District, Nong Bua Lamphu province, with no connection to the comedian.

In a phone interview, Def's biological father, Ketu, a construction worker currently on Samui Island, confirmed that Def is his biological son and his only child. He disclosed that his son has a history of serious drug use and over the past month has shown dramatic behavioral changes, including talking to himself, hearing voices, and believing that relatives are being held hostage at a pier and threatened. The family had previously sought psychiatric treatment for him at Samui Hospital.

Ketu expressed deep concern, explaining that because he works far from home and has financial limitations, he cannot personally monitor his son. He has appealed to police, social welfare authorities, and the Foundation for Protecting Vulnerable Persons for assistance in locating and helping his son access proper psychiatric evaluation and treatment for everyone's safety. Def is currently in the care of the police investigation unit "Pirun." The Mirror Foundation reportedly is traveling to meet with Def at the Udon Thani City Police Station.

On July 21, 2026, the Community Network for the Land Bank (KNTH), led by Bunbangorn Chanacho, submitted a formal complaint to the Prime Minister's office, joined by representatives from agricultural and community enterprises across Tak, Chiang Rai, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Ratchasima, and other provinces. The delegation requested that the government sustain and support the Land Bank Administration (public organization), or TBB, citing its critical role in addressing land inequality and poverty.

The petition follows a previous cabinet resolution setting September 30, 2026, as the Land Bank's dissolution date, which has sparked concern among farmers and vulnerable communities who depend on its land allocation and housing assistance programs affecting hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries nationwide. Representatives highlighted that the Land Bank has successfully distributed over 416 rai of farmland to 108 farming households in Chiang Saen, Chiang Rai, enabling sustainable agriculture and household income generation.

The network has urged the government and cabinet to maintain and strengthen the Land Bank's mandate as the primary agency supporting impoverished citizens lacking agricultural land, ensuring long-term food security, fair resource distribution, and stable livelihoods for farmers across Thailand.

Region 3 Police Bureau and the Police Wives Club delivered a new home to a bedridden patient in need, reaffirming the principle of 'leaving no one behind.' On July 21, 2025, Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasong Ananmani, commander of Region 3, along with officers from Nimitmai Police Station, representatives from the Police Wives Club led by Somruetai Bunsomboon and Panisa Santhiner, collaborated with officials including Phummesat Chaitrakul, Deputy Governor of Bangkok Waterworks Authority, and administrators of Nawamintrachinuthit Girls School 2, as well as residents of the Fuengfa Development Community, to implement the 'House for the Bedridden' project.

The team handed over a new home to 51-year-old Kamphanthai Kamprom, who became bedridden following a motor vehicle accident and is cared for solely by his wife, in the area adjacent to Nawamintrachinuthit Girls School 2 on Nimitmai Soi 64, Samwat Subdistrict, Khlong Samwa District, Bangkok. Pol. Maj. Gen. Prasong explained that in mid-May, he and his team visited bedridden patients in the Nimitmai Police Station area and discovered that Kamphanthai's previous rental agreement was about to expire and the landlord required him to vacate by May 30, 2025.

He then ordered officers to locate a new rental property just 500 meters away at a monthly rate of 3,000 baht with a three-year lease. Police coordinated with Khlong Samwa District Office to dismantle the old house and construct a temporary shelter. However, recognizing that the tent shelter was too hot and vulnerable to storms, Region 3 Police worked with Bangkok Waterworks Authority's Minburi office, the Region 3 police committee, and various foundations to plan and construct a durable permanent home. Workers installed pilings, concrete, the house frame and single-story roof, walls, ceiling, bathroom, electrical and water systems, and paint finishing. Construction was completed in early July and the home was formally handed over today. Kamphanthai expressed overwhelming gratitude for the sturdy new home that would protect him and his wife from storms and rain, and thanked all officers and agencies for their compassion and assistance.

The 18-year-old, identified by the alias "A," was apprehended under a court warrant, along with the 16-year-old youth. The shooting occurred early on July 20 at an intersection near Wat Don Yai in Lam Luk Ka. The victim and a friend were returning home on a motorcycle after refueling when the two suspects, riding on another motorcycle, opened fire. A 9-millimeter pistol was used, striking the victim once in the right eyebrow and once in the hip, proving fatal.

Investigators determined the attack was motivated by a conflict that began ten days earlier. The 18-year-old claims he was assaulted and mob-attacked, prompting him to purchase the firearm online for 15,000 baht. Police revealed the suspect has a prior arrest record from May 7, 2023, on weapons charges when he was a minor. That investigation had led to the seizure of over 10 firearms. Authorities will coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to investigate the 16-year-old suspect before pressing charges of premeditated murder, unauthorized possession of firearms and ammunition, carrying firearms in public without authorization, and related violations.

A speeding motorcycle ran a red light and struck a Grade 8 female student as she crossed a zebra crossing, leaving her severely injured. Security footage captured the moment of impact.

Emergency responders in Bang Phli received the report at 6:10 p.m. on July 21, 2025, regarding a motorcycle-student collision on Rural Highway Route 2001, also known as Sri Waree Noi Road in Bang Chlong subdistrict, Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan Province. Rescue workers arrived to find a 13-year-old student from a school in Bang Saothong district with severe injuries to her right leg and back, plus facial abrasions and bruising. She was given first aid and transported to Bang Phli Hospital. The motorcycle driver, 31-year-old Nattavut, sustained facial and body abrasions and was also treated and transported to hospital.

When questioned, the injured student confirmed she had pressed the pedestrian signal to cross the zebra crossing and was waiting for the green light before attempting to cross. The driver claimed he did not see the red light and could not recall the details of what happened, and denied drinking alcohol.

CCTV footage from cameras near the scene shows the student waiting at the signal, then looking both ways before quickly crossing the zebra crossing when the green light appeared. At that moment, the motorcycle approached at high speed, ignoring both the red light and the zebra crossing, and struck her forcefully, sending her flying more than 10 meters.

Police are scheduled to interview both parties again before deciding whether to press charges against the motorcycle driver.

Two Beauty Pageant Contestants Allege Coach Pocketed Entry Fees

Two beauty pageant contestants allege their coach in Pathum Thani pocketed thousands of baht in entry fees by charging them 6,000 baht while vendors donated services worth far less.

Two Beauty Pageant Contestants Allege Coach Pocketed Entry Fees
21 Jul Khaosod

On July 21, two women in their mid-twenties, Surita and Falada (surnames withheld by request), came forward to reporters alleging they were defrauded by their pageant coach, Kasem. The women explained that they had competed in multiple Miss Grand pageants and met Kasem through Facebook, who then agreed to serve as their mentor for a Miss Grand competition held in Rangsit, Pathum Thani province on July 17-18. They transferred 6,000 baht to Kasem to cover costume rental and makeup expenses.

After the pageant ended, the contestants spoke directly with the costume owner and makeup and hair stylists involved. The costume owner revealed that Kasem had approached them claiming the contestants had limited funds, so the owner agreed to charge only 1,000 baht for the costume rental. Similarly, the makeup artist and hairstylist said Kasem made the same plea, prompting them to donate their services free of charge.

When the contestants discovered this discrepancy, they confronted Kasem about why he charged them 6,000 baht when the actual costs were far lower. Rather than explain, Kasem became defensive and criticized them for questioning the makeup artist, hairstylist, and costume owner. The two women stressed they were not seeking a refund but felt it was unfair to be charged more than the actual cost. They decided to go public as a cautionary tale for other young women entering pageants, urging contestants to select honest and trustworthy mentors who will not exploit their inexperience.

Local Government Exam Scores Rechecked, Invalid Results Removed

Thailand's local government civil service commission invalidated 2025 exam results after discovering scoring errors and removed unqualified candidates, releasing a corrected list based on accurate scores and stricter qualification standards

Local Government Exam Scores Rechecked, Invalid Results Removed
21 Jul Khaosod

Thailand's local government civil service commission (CLES) has annulled the original 2025 local government employee examination results and released a corrected list after comprehensive review of all answer sheets. The Central Examination Committee for Local Government Personnel, in its 9th meeting on July 17, 2026, voted to invalidate the original announcement and issue a new qualified candidates list that reflects accurate scores and complies with law, guided by principles of correctness, equality, and fairness.

Key actions include: First, correcting score discrepancies discovered during detailed answer sheet review that caused ranking errors, requiring the original announcement to be withdrawn and scores reordered accurately. Second, applying standard criteria strictly—candidates who failed to meet minimum passing scores in sections A and B lack the required qualifications and are ineligible as examination candidates from the outset. Third, protecting genuinely qualified test-takers by re-ranking them according to true scores and guaranteeing their appointment without retaking the exam.

The Department of Local Government Promotion is currently rechecking all scores and re-ranking qualified candidates based on accurate results to ensure fairness and protect those who honestly met the standards. The commission remains committed to safeguarding merit-based systems and upholding the rights of all test-takers who followed the rules, ensuring that only candidates who legitimately passed and achieved correct scores are appointed as civil servants or local government employees, thereby strengthening transparency, fairness, and public confidence in local personnel administration.
