Thailand, ranked 94th in the world, faced Pakistan, ranked 198th, in Group B. Coach Anthony Hudson deployed Saracho Yai as captain, with Kkhana Khamyok and Seksarn Ratree controlling midfield to support attacking play from Theerasak Phayimai and Jude Suntharapetch-Bell.
Thailand had its first chance after 20 minutes when Seksarn Ratree fired a long-range attempt that was saved by Pakistan goalkeeper Butt Yousuf. Thailand opened the scoring in the 31st minute when Suphanun Burirattana sent a pass into the penalty area to Jude Suntharapetch-Bell, whose effort was saved but Theerasak Phayimai followed up to score.
Thailand doubled the lead in the 41st minute. Seksarn Ratree advanced down the right flank and crossed for Jude Suntharapetch-Bell, who finished with his right foot.
