Third-Year Student Found Dead in Dormitory
A 22-year-old third-year college student was found dead in his dormitory room in Udon Thani on September 21, with preliminary findings suggesting sudden cardiac failure possibly triggered by exam stress and lack of sleep.
At 4:00 p.m. on September 21, Deputy Superintendent Naratep Thongjiam of Muang Udon Thani Police Station received a report of a male death at a dormitory in Nong Tu community. Officers from Udon Thani Hospital and the Suwang Methadham Foundation rushed to investigate.
In the first-floor room, officials found the body of Thanawint, 22, a third-year college student, lying face-up on his bed. A preliminary autopsy revealed no wounds or signs of struggle. He had been dead for at least two hours, with suspected sudden cardiac failure as the cause.
According to friends, the previous evening they had gathered for drinks before going out for hot pot together, then returned to their rooms to rest. The deceased had no history of chronic illness. CCTV footage showed him at 1:12 a.m. and again around 3:00 a.m., but when a friend visited at 3:00 p.m., he was found dead.
His girlfriend, Som, 22, stated they had been together for over four years. She revealed that while he had no prior medical conditions, he had been studying intensively in preparation for exams with little rest. He was a heavy smoker and drank occasionally. She believed accumulated physical exhaustion may have triggered a fatal shock.
The girlfriend also mentioned having an ominous premonition before his death, dreaming she was traveling with him but returning with someone else driving. Authorities have released the body to his family for religious rites.
