Three Nakhon Phanom Police Save Woman From Bridge Suicide Attempt
Three Nakhon Phanom police officers pulled a 25-year-old woman from a bridge over the Nakhon Phanom River after she climbed onto the railing, preventing a suicide attempt on August 11.
On August 11, 2026, three officers from Nakhon Phanom Police Station—Deputy Sub-Lieutenant Bua Saensri, Sub-Lieutenant Krit Bokaew, and Police Sergeant Wimol Dathumma—responded to a report of a woman attempting to jump from a bridge spanning the Nakhon Phanom River near Nong Wai Dam in Muang District. While stationed at a checkpoint about 1 kilometer away, officers received an alert and rushed to the scene, where they found a woman sitting on the bridge railing in a precarious position. A good Samaritan was already attempting to calm her. Police asked the man to step back, then used conversation to distract the woman while Sub-Lieutenant Krit employed tactical positioning to swiftly and safely pull her down. The woman was identified as 25-year-old Ms. Anocha. Investigation revealed she had taken a taxi from Khon Kaen city before climbing onto the bridge. After the incident, she asked police to call someone claiming to be her son, but the phone number proved to be incorrect and unknown to her. Officers transported her to Nakhon Phanom Hospital for medical evaluation and are assisting in locating relatives for further care.
