Toddler Struck and Killed by Reversing Truck in Pattaya
A three-year-old Thai-Myanmar girl was killed when a reversing six-wheel truck struck her in a workers' camp in Pattaya. Her father tried to save her while her mother fainted repeatedly from shock. Police are investigating the incident and have gathered CCTV evidence.
The victim was identified as Prakaithong, a three-year-old Thai-Myanmar girl who suffered severe injuries when a six-wheel truck with license plate 83-3649 from Phetchabun province reversed over her torso. Rescue workers performed CPR but she died shortly afterward. Her father, Waikhun, held her limp body while her mother repeatedly fainted from shock. Waikhun said he had just finished repairing his motorcycle, saw workers riding motorbikes back into the camp, then switched to driving the six-wheel truck and began reversing. He heard shouts that someone had been stepped on, realized it was his daughter, and rushed to hold her while calling for help. The driver, Takshin, a 23-year-old from Bueng Kan province, told police he was reversing into the camp, checked his side mirrors, saw nothing, and only heard a shout of “He stepped on it!” before realizing the accident. He insisted he had no intention to harm anyone. Police reviewed nearby CCTV, which showed the girl playing with a pink-and-white rubber ball in front of the camp before the crash, followed by footage of her father carrying her away to seek help. Investigators have collected evidence, including the video recordings, and will interview the driver and witnesses to determine the exact cause and proceed with legal action.
