Thailand Connects 2,400 Brands to Global Markets via E-Commerce
Thailand's TOPTHAI by DITP program has connected over 2,400 Thai brands to global markets through partnerships with 13 e-commerce platforms across 12 countries, generating hundreds of millions of baht in trade value as the nation shifts tow
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is advancing opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs to access foreign markets through the TOPTHAI by DITP program, now in its sixth consecutive year. The initiative currently has over 2,400 brands participating, generating cumulative trade value of hundreds of millions of baht, connecting Thai products to global consumers through leading e-commerce platforms.
Dr. Supaporn Sukmark, Deputy Director-General of DITP, stated that global trade is undergoing a complete shift toward a digital economy, with consumers increasingly purchasing online. Thai entrepreneurs must accelerate their adaptation and leverage digital platforms as a tool to expand into foreign markets.
DITP developed TOPTHAI by DITP as a gateway to connect Thai products with global markets through partnerships with 13 e-commerce platforms across 12 countries, including Amazon from the United States, Tmall from China, Rakuten from Japan, BigBasket from India, and LetsTango from the United Arab Emirates. The program helps entrepreneurs reach foreign consumers more easily while reducing costs and barriers to starting an online business. DITP supports marketing campaign development, public relations, and expert consultation to boost the growth of Thai products on global e-commerce platforms.
Currently, popular product categories on the TOPTHAI platform include food and beverages, which stand out for quality and Thai identity, while fashion, mother-and-baby products, and pet products show continued growth potential, demonstrating the capability of Thai products to meet consumer demands in foreign markets.
Beyond this, DITP also organizes Cross-Border E-Commerce activities across multiple regions nationwide to share knowledge on international online commerce, enabling entrepreneurs to network with business partners, negotiate trades, and receive expert consultation in preparation for expanding into foreign markets.
Dr. Supaporn concluded that Thai products still have significant growth potential in foreign markets, particularly through cross-border e-commerce channels, which represent an important opportunity to expand Thai exports. DITP will continue developing the TOPTHAI by DITP program through expanded partnerships with leading e-commerce platforms, entrepreneur development, and marketing promotion to push Thai products to consumers worldwide. The department invites Thai entrepreneurs to join TOPTHAI by DITP to elevate their businesses and expand into international markets.
