A 37‑year‑old female tourist was returning from Ban Rak Thai when she lost control of her motorcycle on a steep downhill curve, hit the guard rail and suffered serious injuries. She was taken to Sri Sangwan Hospital but later died. At approximately 10:50 a.m. on 12 October 2069, Police Lieutenant Worawit Panyawi of the Mae Hong Son City Police Station was alerted by the station’s radio centre that a person had died at Sri Sangwan Hospital. He, together with other officers and hospital doctors, went to the scene and confirmed the death. The victim was later identified as Nantawan Serttharaksa, 37, from Nakhon Sawan province. Police and the hospital’s duty doctor had already carried out an autopsy, preliminarily attributing the death to trauma from the accident. Further procedures will follow.
Earlier that day at 08:23 a.m., a passerby reported a motorcyclist skidding near Pha Sua Waterfall on the road to Ban Rak Thai, a well‑known tourist attraction. The rider was seriously injured and emergency rescue teams from Sri Sangwan Hospital were summoned. Rescue personnel and police later inspected the accident site, transported the injured rider to the hospital, and placed the motorcycle in the custody of the Mok Cham Pae Police Station. At 10:48 a.m. the hospital informed authorities that the injured rider had succumbed to his injuries; relevant parties were notified for further examination and processing.
The accident occurred on a downhill curve where crashes have happened frequently, especially involving tourists. It is suspected that the motorcycle’s automatic braking system overheated during the long descent, causing brake failure and loss of control, leading to the tragic outcome.
