Woman Dies After Motorcycle Collides With Car on Bangkok Highway

A 23-year-old woman riding a motorcycle collided with a sedan on the Asia Highway heading toward Bangkok at 11:50 p.m. on September 27, near kilometer marker 18 in Khlong Suan Phlu subdistrict, Ayutthaya province. Police and rescue volunteers found the victim, identified only as Ms. Paveena (surname withheld), severely injured and unconscious with head and forehead wounds. Officers performed emergency first aid and CPR before medical teams from Rajdhani Hospital arrived, but she died before hospital admission.

The Honda motorcycle, registered in Bangkok, suffered heavy damage. The sedan involved stopped about 200 meters away with hazard lights on, showing damage along its front-left side from the fender through the door and mirror. While rescue workers attended to the victim, a Facebook Messenger message came through her phone asking "Are you home yet?"—likely from a friend unaware of the accident. A Good Samaritan who witnessed the collision found the victim lying unconscious on the roadway and called for help, while the sedan driver remained at the scene and assisted.

Initial investigation indicates the sedan was in the rightmost lane when the motorcycle moved from the center lane into the right lane, causing the collision. The road surface was wet from recent rain. The sedan driver gave a preliminary statement and was called in for further questioning. Police collected photographic evidence and are examining witness accounts and environmental factors to determine the precise cause. The victim's body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Pathum Thani province for autopsy.
