Phra Bat Yai peak, located in Mueang Old Town area of Sukhothai province, has become a major travel destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts who come to enjoy the stunning mountain views and fresh atmosphere. The growing popularity has drawn crowds of visitors and locals checking in daily, especially during the rainy season when lush greenery and cool breezes make the experience more pleasant. The 775-meter ascent takes about 30 minutes for people in normal physical condition to reach the summit.
Many first-time visitors who came after seeing posts on social media expressed amazement at the views. The highlight is the prominent high mountain shrouded in white mist that resembles Japan's Mount Fuji, earning it the nickname "Fuji Sukhothai." Visitors encouraged others to experience the atmosphere firsthand, saying they would not be disappointed.
Beyond Phra Bat Yai peak, the route also features other important attractions such as Sridhong (Tham Nam Phra Ruang), a large earthen dam in Sukhothai, and Wat Saphan Hin, a temple situated 200 meters high on a hill that houses the globally acclaimed "Phra Attharasat," a standing Buddha statue.
Phra Bat Yai Temple is an important historical site that once housed a replica footprint of Buddha, built under King Maha Thammaracha Lithai in 1902. The footprint replica has since been moved to a shrine on Wat Trapang Thong island. Historical inscriptions reveal that people in the Sukhothai period knew this peak as "Khao Sumana Kud Bampot."
