Woman Arrested in Convenience Store Armed Robbery Within Hours
A 28-year-old woman was arrested within hours of robbing a Hat Yai convenience store at gunpoint early September 7, confessing she needed money to pay debts following unemployment and a recent breakup.
At 1 p.m. on September 7, Deputy Commander Phakin Na Ranong of Songkhla Provincial Police, accompanied by Hat Yai Police Station Commander Macha Kaewthong and investigation officers, arrested Gurusheela, 28, who confessed to all charges. Seized items included a black Honda PCX motorcycle, one blank gun with five rounds of ammunition, 5,315 baht in cash, and three bottles of Black Label whiskey valued at approximately 5,000 baht.
The convenience store employee at Sam Chai Soi 1 branch reported that at approximately 5:08 a.m., a person dressed in black, wearing a full-face helmet and gloves, drew the weapon and threatened staff to open three cash registers. The suspect took 5,315 baht and three bottles of whiskey before fleeing on the motorcycle. Police tracked and apprehended the suspect within five hours by 10:30 a.m., recovering all items.
During questioning, Gurusheela confessed and explained she was unemployed, facing debt collection, and had recently broken up with her girlfriend, causing accumulated stress. She decided to use the blank gun she had purchased months earlier to commit the robbery to pay off debts.
The Deputy Commander noted that staff initially believed the suspect was male due to her clothing and appearance. He praised the investigation team for their swift work and urged convenience stores and businesses to report crimes immediately, as police can reach incident scenes within minutes if notified within five minutes.
