Woman Electrocuted in Bangkok Flooding Dies in Parking Lot

A 58-year-old woman was electrocuted and killed in floodwaters at a parking lot of Khlong Chan Public Housing Apartment in Bangkok. The victim, who collected and sold scrap items for a living, was found dead in the flooded area.
At 8:00 a.m. on September 26, 2026, investigator Panuvattha Thaiyai from Ladprao Police Station received a report of a death at the parking lot of Khlong Chan Public Housing Apartment in Soi Nueamint 6, Khlong Chan Subdistrict, Bang Kapi District, Bangkok, and rushed to investigate.
At the scene, police found the deceased identified as Suriya, 58, who had died in standing floodwater. Officers coordinated with emergency personnel to retrieve the body, as there was suspicion of a leaking electrical current in the area.
According to the investigation, witness Kittiphum reported that he looked down at the parking lot and saw the victim collapsed in that area around 5:30 a.m.
Investigators later coordinated with relevant units to assist, and learned that the deceased was Suriya, who made her living collecting and selling scrap items and lived in Khlong Chan Public Housing Apartment.
Investigators notified the victim's relatives so they could proceed with the necessary procedures regarding the body.
