A woman identified as Ms. Prom filed a complaint with news reporters in Nakhon Ratchasima on September 21 after purchasing a half-slung gold ring through a popular online app at 6,730 baht, down from the regular price of 7,476 baht, using a three-installment payment plan. She said the item took about eight days to arrive because it was shipped from abroad, and when she received it, the packaging looked suspicious. She recorded a video of herself opening the package as evidence before taking the ring to a gold shop for inspection, where it was confirmed to be counterfeit.
When she tried to contact the seller to request a refund, she discovered the store had closed and was unreachable. She then contacted the app's customer service to request a refund, which is currently under review. Ms. Prom is now warning other online shoppers, especially those buying gold, to verify sellers and compare prices with market rates. She advises that if prices seem unusually low, buyers should be cautious and record video footage from the moment they receive the package and open it, to have evidence in case the product is counterfeit or defective.
