29-Year-Old Man Found Dead in Forest Reserve Near Housing Estate
A 29-year-old man was found dead in a forest reserve near Mab Ta Phut in Rayong Province, with investigators believing he took his own life amid personal struggles following his mother's death and father's imprisonment.
On September 9, Deputy Lieutenant Udom Srisong, an investigator at Mab Ta Phut Police Station, reported that officers responded on September 8 to a death discovered in a forest reserve in Muang District, Rayong Province. The body of 29-year-old Surawit (surname withheld) was found suspended from a tree, dressed in black and yellow track pants and a green short-sleeved shirt, with the body in an advanced state of decomposition covered in insects. Police removed the body from the tree for examination and found a college student identification card in his wallet. The body was sent to Rayong Hospital for autopsy. According to interviews with people who knew him, Surawit had not been living in the area for a long time following his mother's death and his father's imprisonment. He had relocated to Chachoengsao Province, leaving only distant relatives in his hometown. Investigators believe he was dealing with stress and hopelessness over personal problems, became homesick, and ultimately took his own life.
