Five Thai Youth Win World Peace Ambassador Awards in Sweden
Five Thai youth have been honored as World Peace Ambassadors at the annual Sweden World Peace Award ceremony, recognized for their work promoting global peace and anti-corruption initiatives.
The World Peace International Committee Award held its 2026 Sweden World Peace Award ceremony in Sweden, an annual event running continuously since 2018. This year marks the ninth edition. For the first time, a special award was presented to a team of five Thai youth peace ambassadors who have demonstrated exceptional work in promoting global peace, alongside various peace leadership awards given to leaders from countries around the world.
The 2026 World Peace Youth Ambassadors Awards in Sweden were presented to five outstanding young Thai representatives:
1. Narawich Boonrit, Assumption School Bangkok - Anti-corruption Youth Ambassador 2026 under the National Anti-Corruption Commission; Peace Youth Ambassador to Vatican City 2025, received by Pope Francis; Peace Youth Ambassador to Vatican City 2026, received by Pope Leo XIV; Peace Youth Ambassador to Buddhist lands India-Nepal 2026
2. Kritpetch Trachu, Khon Kaen University Demonstration School - Peace Youth Ambassador to Vatican City 2026, received by Pope Leo XIV; Peace Youth Ambassador to Buddhist lands India-Nepal 2026
3. Chayapa Upmakanchan, Lertlah Kanchanaphisek School - Peace Youth Ambassador to Vatican City 2026, received by Pope Leo XIV; Peace Youth Ambassador to Buddhist lands India-Nepal 2026
4. Phudis Tancharoen, Phor Por Ror Royal College - Anti-corruption Youth Ambassador 2026 under the National Anti-Corruption Commission
5. Chakripetch Trachu, Khon Kaen University Demonstration School International Division - Peace Youth Ambassador to Buddhist lands India-Nepal 2026
Special awards for program supporters were given to:
1. Saruwan Sirisuntrin Specker - Sweden World Peace Award 2026 2. Nimit Trachu - World Peace Leader Awards 2026 Sweden 3. Julphakwat Srisuwan - World Peace Leader Awards 2026 Sweden
The 2026 Sweden World Peace Award, this year's major annual award, recognized acclaimed recipients including Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara, a Vietnamese monk and peace march leader; Walk for Peace USA representatives from the United States; Dr. Vitthaya Panyaphon, chair of the Sweden World Peace Award organizing committee and deputy chair of the Thai Dhamma Diplomatic Council in Europe; and the abbot of Buddharam Temple in Sweden.
The organizing committee stated that the ninth Sweden World Peace Award aims to inspire global peace through international cooperation, emphasizing education to promote and nurture peace, and interfaith exchange to foster cultural diversity and human values supporting peace. Each year, individuals and organizations working on peace from around the world are nominated, and the committee selects those most suitable to ensure variety and impact. Award recipients can leverage their recognition to continue their peace-building work as part of the global effort for peace. This year, World Peace Ambassador awards were presented to youth categories, including Saba Zakarala from Yemen.
