Agriculture Department Deploys Technicians for Free Flood-Damaged Machinery Repairs
The Thai Agriculture Ministry is dispatching trained local technicians to repair flood-damaged farm machinery for free in five eastern provinces from November 17 to 21. Over 776 damaged machines have been identified in Sa Kaeo, Rayong, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, and Nakhon Nayok following severe flooding in September. The program aims to reduce farmers' repair costs and restore agricultural operations quickly.
The Department of Agricultural Extension is moving forward to assist farmers in restoring agricultural machinery affected by flooding, dispatching local agricultural technician teams to repair farm machinery for free from November 17 to 21. Assistant Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Piyarat Tiraphach said continuous heavy rain in September 2026 caused flash flooding in Sa Kaeo, Rayong, Prachinburi, Chachoengsao, and Nakhon Nayok provinces, damaging homes, farmland, and the agricultural machinery that serves as farmers' primary livelihood tools. She ordered the department's Royal Project Promotion Division for Land Management and Agricultural Engineering to coordinate with the Office of Agricultural Promotion and Development Region 3 in Rayong and the five provincial agriculture offices to survey flood-damaged agricultural machinery, set up local repair points, and draft an urgent restoration plan. Four centers are being mobilized: the Roi Et Agricultural Technology Promotion Center for Agricultural Engineering, the Kamphaeng Phet Agricultural Career Promotion and Development Center, the Lopburi Agricultural Career Promotion and Development Center, and the Phetchaburi Agricultural Career Promotion and Development Center, along with local agricultural technicians — farmers trained through the department's agricultural service provider development projects, large-plot local technician programs, intensive-curriculum local technician courses, or the agricultural machinery promotion project's Level 3 local technician curriculum. They will provide repair services to flood-affected farmers to reduce repair costs and enable farmers to use their machinery immediately for land preparation once the situation returns to normal. Department Director-General Krit Uttamawetin revealed that surveys in the target provinces — Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, and Prachinburi — identified more than 776 damaged machines awaiting restoration. Service schedules by district and subdistrict are as follows: Chachoengsao — Sanam Chai Khet District on November 17 (at Village 7 Community Hall, Wang Sai, Khu Yai Mi Subdistrict); Sa Kaeo — Wang Nam Yen District on November 17 (at Ta Lang Noi Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and Community Hall Village 6, Khlong Yai, Thung Maha Charoen Subdistrict), Khao Chakan District from November 18 to 21 (at Village 10 Community Hall, Ko Rang, Nong Wa Subdistrict; Wat Wang Ri, Village 1, Khao Chakan Subdistrict; and Wat Burapha Chaiwanaram, Phra Phloeng Subdistrict), and Aranyaprathet District on November 20 (at Village 5 Community Hall, Ban Rong Rian, Ban Dan Subdistrict, plus Fak Huai, Aranyaprathet, and Tha Kham subdistricts); Prachinburi — Kabin Buri District on November 18 (at Ban Non Faow Organic Agriculture Cooperative Ltd., Village 1, Wang Takhian Subdistrict), Na Di District on November 19 (at Na Di District Agriculture Office, Na Di Subdistrict), Prachantakham District on November 20 (at Prachantakham District Office, Prachantakham Subdistrict), and Si Maha Phot District on November 21 (at Wat Don Yai, Village 5, Dong Krathong Yam Subdistrict).
