The Army Chief of Staff visited the tactical shooting team’s training camp in Prachuap Khiri Khan as they prepare for the 34th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet in Malaysia. Ten ASEAN nations will compete in rifle and pistol events from late October to mid‑November 2026. The Army is boosting the team’s readiness through science‑based fitness and mental training, and is calling for public support.
On 12 October 2026, Army Chief of Staff General Arthut Phuttamanoi, representing the Army Commander, inspected the tactical shooting squad preparing for the 34th ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet (AARM2026) at the Infantry Centre, Camp Thanarat, Pranburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan. Accompanying him were Lieutenant General Tevin Tesnanat (Head of Army Operations), Lieutenant General Kojjanath Thupthetiarat (Head of Army Doctrine), and Major General Loythep Thirachaichayut (representing the Army Logistics Department). The Infantry Centre commander, Major General Cholermphon Khamkhong, welcomed the delegation. Malaysia will host the competition from 30 October to 19 November 2026, with ten ASEAN nations sending athletes ranging from privates to commissioned officers. The meet features five shooting categories: long rifle, short rifle, men’s pistol, women’s pistol, and machine gun, awarding trophies for individual, team, steel‑plate target team, overall national team, and commander relations. A total of 55 personnel will participate: 36 shooters, 13 commanders and support staff, and six observers, led by Lieutenant Colonel Methi Sua kititikul. The Army has prepared the team through regular training, sports‑science‑based fitness programs, and moving meditation to enhance mental readiness. The ASEAN Armies Rifle Meet began in 1991 and is held annually to strengthen military cooperation, improve weapons skills, and exchange expertise. The Army is urging public support for the team competing in Malaysia.
