Thai Golfer Somdip Kaewkanjana Heads to Macau Open
Thai golfer Somdip Kaewkanjana, fresh from an individual bronze at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, is preparing to compete in the SJM Macau Open from October 15-18. He joins fellow Thai professionals and an international field that includes Henrik Stenson, Im Sungjae, Paul Casey and Peter Uihlein. The tournament offers $1 million in prize money and free tickets are available for fans.
Somdip Kaewkanjana, who recently won an individual bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, said he will take a week's rest before resuming training for the SJM Macau Open. He praised the Macau Golf and Country Club for its narrow, challenging layout and noted the good food and weather. His goal is to make the cut and then steadily climb the leaderboard to finish near the top, with a longer-term aim of capturing a title before the season ends.
Other Thai players preparing for the event include national teammates Phum Sakdaensaen, who was runner-up in 2023 and tied for tenth last year; Ronnon Wannasrijantra, the 2024 champion who tied for 34th last season; and Pawith Tangkomolprasert, a former champion who recently won the Yangzhou TPC in Taiwan and now leads the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
The international field features major-champion Henrik Stenson of Sweden, two-time PGA Tour winner Im Sungjae of South Korea, former world No. 3 Paul Casey of England, and LIV Golf star Peter Uihlein of the United States.
