Metropolitan Police Deputy Deploys Phahonyothin Units Against Crime
Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Charin Kophatta led a deployment of 60 officers from Phahonyothin Police Station to boost crime prevention across Bangkok. The operation, conducted at Central Ladprao Mall on October 8, 2026, involved patrol units, investigators, community police, and volunteer MPB Basic SWAT teams targeting high‑risk areas. Officials said the initiative aims to enhance safety for both tourists and residents in the capital.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Charin Kophatta said the deployment follows a policy from Pol. Lt. Gen. Triarong Phuphan, Assistant Commissioner‑General of the Royal Thai Police, which prioritizes crime suppression as the top agenda. He noted that Bangkok attracts many international tourists, making safety for visitors and residents a key concern. Accordingly, the Phahonyothin station coordinated a city‑wide crackdown, integrating all police branches, volunteer police, private security from Central Ladprao, and the MPB Basic SWAT team to conduct patrols and crime‑prevention activities throughout the night.
