Bangkok Approves 93.9 Billion Baht Budget for Fiscal Year 2027
Bangkok's metropolitan council approved a 93.9 billion baht budget for fiscal year 2027, with the largest allocation of 17.7 billion baht designated for the governor's central reserve fund to cover emergencies and development projects.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Council approved the fiscal year 2027 expenditure budget totaling 93,879,663,440 baht on September 15, 2026. Deputy Governor Kanokwan Eamlim announced the approval on September 16 at Bangkok City Hall. The Bangkok Governor's office is currently preparing documents for official proclamation, effective October 1, 2026. The budget comprises regular expenditures of 92,960,841,440 baht and commercial expenditures of 918,822,000 baht, allocated across 20 departments and 50 district offices. The central reserve fund receives the largest allocation at 17,723,077,750 baht, managed directly by the Bangkok Governor for emergency expenses, flood relief, and development initiatives. Major allocations include 1.395 billion baht for general reserves, 3.85 billion baht for government-mandated programs, and 3.494 billion baht for civil service pensions. Other significant recipients include the Traffic and Transport Office at 8.325 billion baht, the Public Works Office at 8.064 billion baht, and the Drainage and Sewerage Office at 7.82 billion baht. Additional departments receiving substantial budgets include Environment, Medical Services, Finance, Sanitation, Culture and Tourism, Education, and Disaster Prevention and Relief.
