British Girl Group FLO Brings First Bangkok Concert Tour
British R&B group FLO performed their first Bangkok concert on August 29 at Sphere Hall, promoting their second album "Therapy at the Club" and sharing their excitement about experiencing Thailand for the first time.
British R&B girl group FLO, led by Renee Downer, Stella Quaresma, and Jorja Douglas, released their second album "Therapy at the Club" and surprised Thai fans by flying in for their first concert in Thailand, "FLO – Therapy at the Club Tour in Bangkok," held on Saturday, August 29 at Sphere Hall, M Sphere.
The three members opened up in an exclusive interview about their excitement experiencing Bangkok for the first time, discussing activities they wanted to try and sampling authentic Thai food.
★ What was it like for FLO to visit Thailand for the first time? Stella: "We were so excited! Thailand is really fun. Even just walking down the street is enjoyable."
★ If you could do one thing in Bangkok besides performing, what would it be? Renee: "I'd love to ride a motorbike. I have to try it because the traffic here is crazy!" (laughs)
Jorja: "I want to get a Thai massage. When we were walking around late at night, it must have been around 5 PM, but so many shops were still open. After the concert, I really want to get a massage."
Stella: "I want to try delicious food. I'd love to eat authentic Thai dishes made the way grandmothers make them."
★ What had you heard about Thailand or Thai fans before coming? Stella: "We've done interviews over Zoom with Thai people before, and everyone was so excited. They dress up fully, so I thought people here must be full of energy."
★ What does "Therapy" mean to each of you for the album and tour title? Renee: "For our album, Therapy means healing together as a group, not just as individuals."
Jorja: "I think it means not being afraid of things you face, whether with loved ones or personal issues, with friends helping you get through. Including music too. Therapy at the Club has the club, people, music, and drinks – all these things healing you."
Stella: "I think it means recognizing it's okay to have different feelings about things. You don't have to avoid what scares you or feels new. What I learned making the album is that everyone has felt this way, and it's normal. Some days I feel one way, other days differently. That's just normal."
★ Seven years after FLO debuted in 2017 and created many phenomena in the music industry, how do you view the group's growth? Renee: "We've grown a lot. We only released music over a four-year period, so we still feel new to the industry. We work really well together, as shown by our second album's success. Album two is what people feared would be cursed, and that actually makes us more excited about future albums. I think we're in a really good place right now."
★ Choose one FLO song that best represents the group's identity. Jorja: "That's really hard because we just added a new album, so there are 16 more songs to choose from."
Stella: "Can I pick two songs? 'Shoulda Woulda Coulda' and 'Leak It.'"
Renee: "I'd say 'Leak It' as well, because I think anyone hearing our music for the first time should experience something more than a typical song. I want them to think, 'Wow, there are three vocalists, the song is catchy, the harmonies are interesting – who is this?' and then go listen to our other songs."
