Two Bangkok Tech Institutes Ordered Shut for Three Months
Two Bangkok-area technical institutes ordered closed for three months to resolve a prolonged land dispute, with both institutions required to secure alternative facilities or face indefinite shutdown.
Deputy Prime Minister Yasothon Vongsawat chaired a meeting to address the prolonged conflict between Rajamangala University of Technology Isan's Udon Thani campus and Pathumwan Institute of Technology, announcing four resolution measures. Both institutions are ordered closed for three months with no classes held at either campus until new facilities are completed; if venues remain unready, closures will continue indefinitely. Pathumwan Institute has been instructed to secure alternative premises, while the Udon Thani campus rector must find new facilities within three months or arrange interim teaching locations without using the current site. The Udon Thani land will be handed back to Chulalongkorn University for innovation and public benefit, prohibited from commercial use and managed by a development committee involving all relevant institutions and the public.
On September 10, 2569, reporters observed both campuses operating under the shutdown order with no students entering or leaving. Pathumwan Institute security, following management directives, barred students from the premises, shifting all instruction to online delivery. The Udon Thani campus sealed its gates with vinyl signage prohibiting entry in accordance with the directive.
