Deputy Director General Orders Transfer of Ban Saeng District Chief
The Director-General of Thailand's Department of Provincial Administration has ordered the transfer of Ban Saeng District Chief Setthawat Wongleewut to auxiliary duty at the Provincial Administration College after he failed to cooperate in flood relief operations. An investigation confirmed the official's lack of cooperation and attitude problems, prompting a disciplinary review. The order, effective 7 Oct 2026 to 5 Nov 2026, cites Section 32 of the Civil Service Act.
The Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration has ordered the immediate transfer of Ban Saeng District Chief to auxiliary duty at the Provincial Administration College after Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed anger during a National Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command meeting over the official's lack of cooperation in flood relief efforts. The provincial governor of Prachinburi had written to the Interior Minister, the Permanent Secretary, and the Director-General requesting the transfer of District Chief Setthawat Wongleewut, citing his unwillingness to cooperate, lack of enthusiasm, failure to devote himself to work, and unwillingness to help residents in his jurisdiction, including evacuating villagers to safe areas. An investigation confirmed the allegations, prompting the Director-General to condemn the official's conduct as shameful and order a disciplinary and attitude review, emphasizing that anyone who fails in their duty to serve the public should not remain in government service. He warned that if the findings are serious, the official would not be allowed to continue in office, and stressed that serving the public is the highest priority. Subsequently, Director-General Narucha Hosasilavisil signed Order No. 2871/2569 of the Department of Provincial Administration, invoking Section 32 of the Civil Service Act, BE 2534 (as amended), to assign Setthawat Wongleewut, the Ban Saeng District Chief of Prachinburi Province, to auxiliary duty at the Department of Provincial Administration, specifically at the Provincial Administration College, effective from 7 October 2026 to 5 November 2026.
