Government Opens M6 Motorway Section to Bypass Flood Areas
Government officials opened a section of the M6 motorway between Bang Pa-in and Hin Kong in both directions to help drivers avoid flood-affected areas from October 6 to 11, or until conditions improve. Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploythale Lakhasangchan said the trial service aims to provide alternative routes and ease travel hardship caused by flooding. Motorists are advised to plan trips, follow traffic signs, and contact the Highway Department hotline for updates.
The government has opened the M6 motorway stretch from Bang Pa-in to Hin Kong in both directions to bypass flood-affected areas from October 6 to 11, or until the situation improves. Deputy Government Spokesperson Ploythale Lakhasangchan said the Ministry of Transport’s Intercity Highway Division has initiated a trial service on Intercity Highway No. 6 (M6), Bang Pa-in to Nakhon Ratchasima route, to provide alternative routes and alleviate public hardship caused by flooding. The service began at 18:00 on October 6 and will run until 24:00 on October 11, or until conditions ease, to align route management with the situation and reduce travel impacts. She added that, as the M6 is still being prepared for full opening, the public should plan their journeys, increase vigilance, and obey traffic signs and officers’ instructions for safety.
