Police Hunt Illegal Loan App Gang After Triple Death
A mother and her two children were found dead in a Pathum Thani home after being scammed by a fake loan app that demanded upfront payments. The victims had previously filed an online complaint with police before their deaths. Police have ordered a rapid arrest of the illegal loan app gang and warned the public to avoid paying fees before loan approval.
Police chief Pol. Gen. Sornram Nualma has ordered the Provincial Police Region 1 and the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau to speed up the hunt for a gang behind a fraudulent loan application after a mother and her two young children were found dead in their Pathum Thani housing estate. Investigators say the victims had previously filed an online complaint on September 29 after being duped by a fake loan app that demanded upfront payments before approving a loan, then continued to extort more money under false pretenses. The victims’ complaint was logged, and police were preparing to interview them before the tragic incident occurred on October 7. Authorities have traced some financial transactions, identified several suspects, and are gathering evidence to arrest the whole network. Police warn the public never to pay fees before loan approval, noting that legitimate lenders never ask for upfront money. They advise anyone who suspects a scam or has been victimized to contact the AOC hotline at 1441 or file a report via www.thaipoliceonline.go.th, available 24/7.
