Education Ministry Modernizes Thai Scouts With AI Skills

Assistant Education Minister Linthiporn Warinwatcharoj chaired a policy meeting with provincial scout officials and education administrators on October 28, 2026. She emphasized connecting scouting activities more closely to the real lives of children and youth, particularly by integrating the mission of the Rights and Safety Protection Center into scouting so that young people learn safety, how to help others, and social responsibility from school age. Linthiporn wants Thai scouts to keep pace with the world, especially in an era where AI plays a daily role, and proposed seven key skills for modern scouts: 1) Understand and use AI safely; 2) Possess survival skills both in real life and online; 3) Show empathy and collaborate with others; 4) Think critically and discern information, not believing everything seen; 5) Care for nature and the environment; 6) Dare to think and create new things; 7) Have discipline, honesty, and be a leader with integrity. She also advocated the concept of "One Scout Troop, One Community Protection Network" so troops can address local issues — environmental care, community assistance, online safety, or volunteer work — under appropriate teacher and agency supervision. "The world has changed greatly, and the skills children need have changed, but what must not change is the heart of scouting: discipline, sacrifice, honesty, and helping others. Scouts of the past trained to survive in nature; scouts of today must learn to survive in a changing world; and scouts of the future must be people who master technology without abandoning virtue," Linthiporn said.
