Ex-Husband Shoots Ex-Wife Dead in Lampang Home
A 54-year-old business owner in Lampang was shot dead by her 61-year-old ex-husband at their shared home on July 27, with a property dispute believed to be the motive.
An ex-husband has shot and killed his ex-wife, a prominent business owner in Lampang province, at their shared residence. The incident is believed to stem from a property dispute.
On July 27, Pol. Lt. Wichian Jaisan Klang, an investigator at Muang Lampang Police Station, responded to a report of a shooting inside a house in Wieng Nuea subdistrict, Muang district, Lampang province. He coordinated with Pol. Col. Komsarn Barungyot, commander of Muang Lampang Police Station, and Pol. Lt. Thani Chantantakul, deputy commander, along with forensic teams, five forensic doctors from Lampang Hospital, and rescue workers to investigate the scene.
At the two-story concrete house, officers found the body of Ms. Thanyapat, 54, a business owner in Lampang province, in front of the kitchen area. Initial investigation revealed that the suspect is Chainorin, 61, the ex-husband. Although the couple had divorced, they continued to live in the same house. Neighbors reported hearing them arguing loudly before gunshots rang out, prompting them to alert police.
When officers arrived, the woman was already dead. Several spent bullet casings were found on the street in front of the house, believed to have been discarded by the suspect after the shooting. According to people close to the family, the couple had agreed to divide assets following their divorce, but the man did not receive the agreed-upon sum, which led to disputes. This is believed to be the trigger for the incident. Police are gathering evidence and witness statements to determine the exact cause and proceed with legal action.
