A tragic incident occurred when a 39-year-old father stopped his pickup truck by Nong Hoa Canal to wash his face while driving his 12-year-old son to school in Khuan Khanan District, Phatthalung Province. At 7:30 a.m. on September 14, 2025, Deputy Superintendent Samrit Pethnoo of Khao Chai Son Police Station received a report of a missing person in Nong Hoa Canal. Rescue workers and hospital medical staff responded to the scene and found an Isuzu pickup truck with Songkhla license plates parked on the roadside.
The vehicle belonged to the father, who had been traveling from Hat Yai District with his 12-year-old son to take him to school. The father told his son he was going down to wash his face and then disappeared. The son went looking for him and found his father's shoe by the canal's edge, then immediately called for help from local residents and rescue workers.
Rescue workers searched the canal around a pipe structure and discovered the father's body submerged near the pipe. He was brought up but was already deceased. According to the son's account, the father had a history of seizures and was undergoing treatment with intermittent symptoms. It is believed that the father may have suffered a seizure or lost consciousness while washing his face, causing him to fall into the canal and drown.
The father normally traveled from Hat Yai on weekends to pick up his son, who lived with his mother in Khuan Khanan District, and would return together before taking him back to school on Monday mornings.
