Five Candidates Apply to Join Thailand's Election Commission
Five candidates including a former Mahidol University dean and a lawyer have applied for a vacant seat on Thailand's Election Commission, with the Senate now conducting background checks before interviews.
The Senate Secretariat closed applications on September 21, 2569 for one vacant seat on the Election Commission. The recruitment period ran from September 1-21, 2569 during office hours at the Government Information Center, Parliament Building, Senate wing.
Five candidates submitted applications:
1. Associate Professor Dr. Pithaya Jarupoonphol, 66, former Dean of the Faculty of Public Health at Mahidol University 2. Somphong Singhasombun, 67, adviser to the chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission 3. Associate Professor Thatree Mahantarattana, 63, Vice Rector of Rajabhat Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya University 4. Wuthipong Nettithirat, 49, lawyer and former chairman of the Loei Province Bar Association 5. Sadit Uraiwerojanakorn, 64, certified auditor and former board member of the Political Parties Development Fund and independent director at Chaophraya Mahanakhon Public Company Limited
The Senate Secretariat will forward candidate names to relevant agencies for background checks and verification of qualifications under the Organic Act on the Election Commission, 2560. After vetting, qualified candidates will present their views on the Election Commission's role and responsibilities and participate in interviews. The public may submit information about candidates by Tuesday, October 6, 2569 to the Election Commission Screening Committee or via www.senate.go.th.
