Flood Victims Criticize Duplicate Aid Registration Steps
Flood victims in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Sam district complain that receiving the 9,000‑baht government aid requires duplicate steps even after registering through the official app. Officials acknowledge the redundancy, noting that applicants must still submit documents to the local subdistrict office for verification before payment. Residents say the cumbersome process adds hardship while floodwaters linger and repair funds fall short of needs.
Officials criticized the flood relief aid process, saying the 9,000‑baht assistance requires redundant steps even after registering through the government app. On October 6, 2026, at the Khlong Sam Village Juristic Office, Dr. Wirasak Hadda, mayor of Khlong Sam Subdistrict, opened a registration desk with welfare officers as many residents lined up.
Ubon Seema, 80, said floodwaters have lingered over ten days and begun to spoil, while the aid application is cumbersome—requiring approval, document scanning, and photos—yet the 9,000 baht only covers partial home repairs. Bangorn Suyana, 54, said flooding prevented her children from working or studying, forcing the family to halt activities and making it difficult to buy food and essentials; normal life is impossible.
Dr. Wirasak added that the duplication occurs because people who have already registered via the government app must still bring documents to the subdistrict office for the mayor’s signature before payment can be issued. He noted that if residents submitted documents directly to the subdistrict office—such as copies of ID cards, bank books, and photos of the damage—the office could verify the information and approve it on the spot, since it already has the data to check eligibility.
Many residents questioned why they need to repeat the process at the subdistrict office after completing the government app registration, arguing that if the app handles verification and approval, the extra local endorsement should be eliminated to avoid redundancy.
