Pheu Thai Launches Flood Aid System Across Seven Provinces
Pheu Thai has launched a flood‑relief initiative that pools five ministries and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to assist victims through the new Traffy Fondue platform. The system lets residents request free repairs for flood‑damaged appliances and vehicles, with a pilot running in seven provinces including Bangkok and surrounding areas. Party MPs said the effort also includes delivering supplies and coordinating water‑pumping and restoration work.
At a press conference at the Pheu Thai Party headquarters on October 6, 2026, Chayapa Sinthuphrai, MP for Roi Et’s 8th constituency, and Praphaporn Thongpaknam, MP for Sukhothai’s 3rd constituency and deputy party spokesperson, detailed the party’s response to widespread flooding. They said the party had set up coordination centres to gather essential supplies—relief packs, dry rice, and drinking water—for distribution in Bangkok, surrounding areas, and provinces such as Samut Prakan, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Nakhon Ratchasima, Pathum Thani, Lad Krabang, Sai Mai, and Don Mueang. MPs and party‑aligned ministers have continued to visit affected areas to coordinate water‑pumping and relief operations.
Praphaporn Thongpaknam explained that the government’s “Repair, Build, Fight Floods” project brings together five ministries and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration under the coordination of Deputy Prime Minister Yotchanun Wongsa‑wat, who also serves as Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. The initiative centres on the Traffy Fondue one‑stop service, which logs requests and routes them to the responsible agency.
The six participating bodies are: 1. Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (via NECTEC and NSTDA) – manages the central Traffy Fondue system, mobilises personnel and expertise from Rajamangala University of Technology and Rajabhat University networks to support recovery. 2. Ministry of Labour – through the Skill Development Department provides free inspection and repair of flood‑damaged electrical appliances and vehicles to reduce costs and speed livelihood recovery. 3. Ministry of Education – deploys vocational teachers and students with technical skills to assist in checking and repairing community equipment. 4. Ministry of Social Development and Human Security – sends Social Development and Human Security volunteers to aid vulnerable groups, including the elderly, disabled, and bedridden patients who may struggle with smartphone use. 5. Ministry of Defence – supplies military engineers, engineering troops, and volunteer engineers to work with partner networks on cleaning, restoring areas, and repairing basic infrastructure. 6. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration – accelerates drainage, cleans affected zones, restores conditions, and coordinates with local repair teams.
The pilot service has already opened in seven provinces: Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, and Kanchanaburi. Residents can request help via the LINE Official account @traffyfondue by selecting the “Repair, Build, Fight Floods” menu, describing the damage, attaching photos, and providing location details.
