He dismissed rumors of party sabotage and said his daughter is ready to explain herself if needed.
Samret Tantrap, father of Bhumjaithai Party MP Ideer, said he has not yet spoken to his son-in-law about his work because he is not fluent in English. He said he is not worried, telling his daughter to be strong and clear herself, and declined to comment on rumors that party members are trying to sabotage her chances of becoming a minister. On October 6, 2026, at the Bhumjaithai Party office, Samret Tantrap, MP for Chaiyaphum from the Bhumjaithai Party, explained that his daughter Suchada Sang Tantrap, also an MP for Chaiyaphum, is being investigated over her husband’s occupation and assets, which have been linked to scammers. He said they must listen to all opinions and have a duty to clarify the matter clearly for the public, adding that it is not a cause for concern. When asked if he had spoken to the son-in-law, Samret said his limited English prevents direct conversation, but the son-in-law can communicate through his daughter; he emphasized the issue is serious and that government agencies already have investigative procedures and legal processes in place, so any clarification should come from those agencies with the most accurate facts. He affirmed that his daughter should be the one to clarify, as she knows the situation best and is confident she has not broken the law, and that she is ready to present evidence if needed. Samret also said the party had not asked him about the matter and that it should be left to his daughter to address the public. Regarding concerns that her husband might not be able to clarify or that there might be internal party efforts to block her from a ministerial post, he said he had seen similar rumors but considered them unsubstantiated and preferred not to comment further to avoid escalating the issue. He added that anyone who breaks the law, whether from the government or opposition, cannot deny responsibility if evidence exists. Finally, he said he had encouraged his daughter to stay resolute and clear herself amid social media criticism, noting that as a public figure she must be prepared to face scrutiny and respond accordingly.
